Remembering LCpl Hatak-Yuka-Keyu (Freeman) Martin Yearby.

LCpl Hatak-Yuka-Keyu (Freeman) Martin Yearby was the 21-year-old son of Justin and Mary Yearby of Overbrook, OK. Brother of Samarrah Bell and Shema Yearby, Uncle to his 4 year-old niece Vegas Loraine Bell and 2 year-old nephew Tee-Dee-Nae Jackson Yearby, brother-n-law to Chris Bell, and husband to Lindsey Michelle Yearby of Ardmore, OK.

An enrolled tribal member of theSeminole Nation of Oklahoma, he belonged to the Ceyvha Band and was Bird Clan as well a proud descendant of the Choctaw and Creek Nations. A true friend to all who knew him, always helpful, caring, and humorous. His life

and personality was always full of happiness, respect, and honor. Very close to his family, doing for his Mom and Dad, harassing his sisters, playing with his niece and nephew, loving his wife, teasing and joking around with his brother-n-law, he was a well-rounded individual whose characteristics and teachings of others shaped him into the man that we knew as a son, husband, brother, uncle, and friend.

As a Northern Traditional Dancer, Hatak was poetry in motion and could bring you to happy tears to watch him dance. He also enjoyed his time traveling with his family all over Indian-country.

Upon graduation from Marietta High School he was active in the Upward Bound Program, sports, and country life. He attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University before committing to the United States Marines Corp in 2005. Lance Corporal Yearby was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He then married his wife Lindsey in February of 2006 before being deployed to Iraq. Hatak was KIA on May 14, 2006 while conducting combat operations near Al Anbar Province, Iraq. His legacy is shared through the memories by his family and friends, his mission in life will always  onor his duty to his boyhood dream. A United States Marine
